Talk about heavy shelling! The Bailey-Matthews Shell Museum is unlike anything you've seen before, no volutes about it. If you've ever enjoyed a spot of beach-combing and taken home a small prize shell you'll stand shocked (as in shell) at the collection here. But in addition to perfect condition conchs and chamber nautilus you'll find a variety of shell-inspired art as well as educational exhibits on the "shell-makers", early peoples who put these gifts from the sea to practical uses. There are also a range of displays on mollusks and medicine, treasures of the deep and of course there's no skipping out without giving a nod the Cephalopods...
