Description

Not only can the house on Duval St in Key West lay claim to fame as the oldest house around, it's also achieved a certain notoriety for the history that ensued. Now home to the Wreckers Museum, this was once the residence of Francis Watlington, a Customs Inspector, "wrecker" and harbor pilot amongst other things during the heyday of "wrecking" - when cargo was salvaged from wrecked ships come to an untimely end on ragged reefs offshore. Inside find model ships, period furnishings and an assortment of interesting exhibits exploring this lucrative period.
