The reserve is actively involved in restoration of altered ecosystems, including restoration of sheetflow to the estuary through removal of abandoned roads and installation of culverts. Reserve staff and community volunteers have worked to remove non-native exotic plants, and reestablish native plants within the reserve. Research staff conduct ongoing studies to determine effectiveness of restoration efforts.
