Description

The Gonazles-Alvarez House holds claim to fame as St Augustine’s oldest abode dating back to Spanish colonialism to survive to the present century. Visitors can get a glimpse of the add-ons and architectural ventures of a progression of Spanish, British and American occupants, punctuating a comprehensive tour with a spin round the gardens and a stop in the associated museum store. Happily, modern travelers can pay admission fees in contemporary currency (plastic accepted). Reach the house easily on foot south of the Bridge of Lions in the historic district.
