Whether or not you find the rags to riches story of Willam Curry, an immigrant turned shipwreck salvager, to your liking it's hard not to be impressed by the elegant mansion he built once he'd bolstered his bank account (Key Lime pie was "invented" in the mansion's kitchen). Open for self-guided tours these days, visitors will be treated to architecture and furnishings that reflect Curry's career path, with additions from ports of call around the country, offering one version of 19th-century lavishness.
